Hanwag Alaska Wide GTX Kengät Miehet, ruskea (brown)
The archetypal trekking boot – the Alaska Wide GTX is an absolute classic suitable for trekking adventures all over the world. The wide version has additional room at the forefoot for broader feet.
Ultra-thin and lightweight membrane made of stretched microporous PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). Very breathable and permanently waterproof membrane.
The heel area is normal, but the shoe offers more space in the forefoot and ball area. A wide model fits people for whom a "normal" model is too narrow at the front.
Durable trekking sole with medium-hard stiffening and brake studs in the middle of the tread. PU step cushioning with anti-supination and overpronation zones that support and stabilize the roll.
The shoe is suitable for demanding hikes in the low mountain range even on bad paths.
Above all, the stiffness of the sole, the drop (how far the sole is rounded to allow good rolling) and the shaft construction determine how a model positions itself within the categories. For this reason, you will find the categories A-B-C-D for each model. This gives you an idea of how stiff the shoe is.
D = very strong and fully crampon-proof (step-in/automatic crampon).
C = firm and conditionally crampon-resistant (strap-on/semi-automatic crampon)
B = firm grip and solid but flexing sole for trekking and hiking
A = soft, very good flexing construction
100 % Resolable
Thanks to the pinched or double stitched design, the shoes can be resoled several times.
