Demanding Via Ferrata climbers are enthusiastic about the comfortable handling of the Set Ultimate Ferrata S from LACD. The via ferrata set is also particularly suitable for light people. From 40 kg (without additional luggage) and up to a total user weight of 120 kg (including luggage), the belt shock absorber ensures efficient braking in the event of a fall. The LACD UHMPE belt shock absorber offers particularly uniform tearing properties over its entire length. The elastic arms of the Ultima Ferrata S set are connected to a stainless steel swivel. This stable swivel prevents the twisting of the via ferrata arms when clipping the karabiners. Time-consuming and annoying untangling of the via ferrata cigar in the via ferrata is no longer necessary. The generously dimensioned via ferrata karabiners with their ergonomically optimised shape are particularly comfortable when climbing via ferrata. They lie perfectly in the hand and can be clipped super. Handling the karabiners is simple, energy-saving and very safe thanks to the double mechanism.
To open the karabiner, the palm switch and the catch must be operated simultaneously. This is done by simply closing the fist when clipping the wire rope from above. This also works if the karabiners are pressed together with the thumb on the snapper and the other fingers on the palm switch. When released, the karabiner locks automatically. The karabiner does not open if you only press the catch or the palm switch. The fingers of the Ultimate karabiner are far away from the steel cable, making it difficult to pinch the fingers.
The Ultimate karabiner is completely made of aluminium and steel. It also does without plastic parts that could break. With their 25 mm wide catch opening, they are perfectly dimensioned for use on wire ropes and iron ladders. The two aluminium karabiners have high safety reserves with 28 kN when closed and 16 kN when open. The Ultimate karabiners have also been tested for bending loads in accordance with UIAA 121.

UHMPE
UHMPE is the abbreviation for Ultra-High-Molecularweight Polyethylene. These are fibres made from particularly long polyethylene chains.
The properties of UHMPE, compared to other fibres used in mountaineering equipment, are: high breaking strength, low volume and weight, low water absorption, fully static (low elongation), high UV resistance but also a low melting point.
