Urban sneaker for summer in the city. The sporty, comfortable UBN Sneaker for men is a true all-rounder – good looking and functional, it’s just as perfect for after work adventures is it is for the office. The breathable canvas made of GOTS-certified organic cotton combined with the chrome-free tanned leather ensures a good microclimate for your feet. The footbed is made of natural fibers and can be removed – which is really practical if you want to use your own insoles. The rubber soles made of recycled natural rubber and other recycled materials can be resoled. No synthetics were used in making these shoes. The VAUDE Green Shape label stands for environmentally-friendly, functional products made from sustainable materials.
Green Shape Green Shape is the VAUDE seal of approval for products that are manufactured in a particularly environmentally friendly manner. This includes the complete production cycle from development and production to maintenance and usability after use. The criteria for this are strict. The products must consist either of at least 90 percent organically grown cotton, recycled materials or the Tencel wood fibre. Furthermore, they must have been dyed with the environmentally friendly dyeing process VAUDE eColour or meet the world's strictest environmental textile standard Bluesign. VAUDE's goal is the best for man and nature.
PVC free The VAUDE label "PVC-free" means that this product is manufactured 100% free of PVC (polyvinyl choride). It looks like tarpaulin canvas, is just as durable and waterproof, but is made from PU (polyurethane) coated fabric rather than PVC. PVC largely contains plasticizers (phthalates) that are considered to be harmful to your health.
Recycled Materials Vaude uses recycled materials, e.g. PET bottles, to manufacture this product. This saves up to 50 % energy and CO2 emissions as well as fossil raw materials. For further details see care label in the product.
Renewable materials VAUDE uses renewable vegetable- or animal-based resources in the manufacture of this product. This saves on fossil raw materials.
The mission of GOTS is to develop, implement, verify, protect and promote the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). This standard sets the requirements for the entire supply chain for both environmental and working conditions in textile and apparel production that uses organically produced raw materials. Textiles must consist of at least 70% organically produced natural fibers and meet other criteria of the standard in order to carry the GOTS seal ("made with x% organic"). From 95% organic content, the suffix "organic" is awarded. Throughout the supply chain, there is a further focus on the regulated use of chemicals (e.g. dyes, auxiliaries), these must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. Minimum social criteria must also be met within each link in the production chain and are also monitored by independent certification bodies.
Textile products undergo an extensive manufacturing process. This requires raw materials and other components, e.g. dyeing or chemical auxiliaries. The materials or intermediate products created within the production chain are tested by the independent body bluesign and evaluated using the bluesign CRITERIA. These set consumer protection limits, e.g. to limit chemical substances in textiles and make them more sustainable. The individual, successfully tested components or processes receive the bluesign APPROVED seal.
